Welcome! As principal, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the students and parents who are part of our school community. Burdick School offers families a warm and caring atmosphere in which our children can learn and grow. We have a safe school environment with minimal discipline problems, and I truly believe that our children who attend Burdick are some of the best in Milwaukee. Our parents are supportive and interested in their children's learning and growth, which all lends itself to a successful school.

Burdick School was established in 1925 as a neighborhood kindergarten through grade 8 school. We are located on the far south side of Milwaukee, just north of General Mitchell International Airport in a safe and quiet residential neighborhood. We are fortunate to be able to offer classes in art, music, band, trade and technology, and physical education. In addition, we offer music lessons in piano, percussion, violin, winds, and voice. Students also participate in basketball, volleyball, and baseball during the year as well as scouting. Technology is also important at Burdick. Students use technology at all grade levels with a special emphasis in grades 6-8

We believe that an excellent school is an outgrowth of students, parents, teachers, community, and principal all working together for the benefit of the school and its' children. We know that a quality school is characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect and we embrace this ideal. The mission of A.E. Burdick School is to assist all students to achieve their highest academic potential and develop thoughtful and responsible citizenship, write and speak with clarity and correctness, actively participate in the fine arts, read with understanding, solve mathematical problems, use scientific facts and principles, understand and apply technology in real life situations, develop positive habits which promote physical and emotional well being, and develop those skills needed to ensure that they assume responsible roles in society.
